Only a few booths away from the Republican Booth, we all co-existed for the community! Our Voter Registration Booth was a big success and we than all who helped with the organization and working the event. You gotta come next year! The parade was a personal highlight with the caballeros and their dancing horses. It was all well worth our time there. We managed 10 new registrations, 5 out of town mail registrations and $120 cash! We had surprise visits from Herb and his wife and our gleaming new grandma, Joan! Help me thank the lovely crew: Nathan (who plans to help the canvassing efforts in MF next week!), Jimmie (who is looking forward in helping BCDC’s Teacher Appreciation Project!), Julie and her husband Rick (who are excited in leading next week’s MF block walk!), Rodney (who works daily to help Dwaine Handley win this year in November!) and our experienced Democratic Party Chair, Guy Stuart (who, like everything he does for us, stayed with us at the festival from start to finish!!!). We are so grateful. Thank you! Martha Van Vleck, Oatmeal coordinator BCDC supports our public schools and public school teachers and staff! We are again providing snacks to the elementary school and middle school teachers. We need volunteers to delivery the beautiful baskets to the schools. To volunteer email here or call 830-220-5228. It's a fantastic event to let staff know we support them. What does a nine-year-old birthday party with a jump house, a pretty decorated ceramic dog, and feeding carrots to a horse have to do with Get Out the Vote in Burnet County? Well, on a recent block walk we registered - the mother of the nine year old, the 18 year old resident with pretty ceramic dogs, and a 60-year-old owner of the horse - all will be first time voters! If you want to register to block walk on Sunday, October 6 at 2:00 pm in Marble Falls. Register here . It is not too late, to do SOMETHING! Go to mobilize link and sign up for SOMETHING! Who knows, you might get to eat birthday cake, too! Reminder: Everyone that wrote postcards please mail by October 15! A Poem by Shel Silverstein Masks She had blue skin, And so did he. He kept it hidden, And so did she. They searched for blue Their whole life through Then passed right by- and never knew.
