Meet this 2022 Candidate...

Running for Texas Lieutenant Governor

MATTHEW DOWD

When he announced his candidacy from Wimberley, Texas, Dowd said:

“The GOP politicians have failed us, especially the cruel and craven lieutenant governor. Dan Patrick has been lying, deceiving, fracturing the bonds we share and
endangering all of our lives.”

A former Republican who left the party in 2007, Dowd has worked hard for the Texas Democratic Party and its candidates: Congressman J.J. (Jake) Pickle (D-Texas), U.S. Senator Lloyd Bentsen and Lt. Governor Bob Bullock, the last Democrat to win the office of Lt. Governor. He also ran successful campaigns for several notable Republican candidates. The man knows how to win an election.

Dowd is known nationally as a thought-leader, author and one of the most creative strategists of his generation. He was chief political analyst at ABC News for over a decade, and has long been known as a reliable, fact-based, nonpartisan voice on Nightline, This Week and Good
Morning America.

He’s the author of two books, been a visiting lecturer at the nation’s top universities, and has advised such foundations, nonprofits and corporations as the NBA and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

As a philanthropist, Dowd has invested in startups doing good and has served on the boards of the nonprofit Seton Family of Hospitals, Texas Habitat for Humanity and Texas Impact, an interfaith group working for equal justice. He lives in Wimberley, Texas, with his family.
